Hat tip to Brian at BlueNC for this news — homobigot Vernon Robinson, who tried and failed to unseat Congressman Brad Miller in the 13th District race here in 2006, has picked up something as a consolation prize — the “Willie” award for Worst Political Advertisement, given by progressive thinktank Growth & Justice.
Here’s what Vern actually put on the air to receive the honor; he does the NC GOP proud:
And a snippet the post I did back when that ad was first released (March 2006) is below the fold.

Jeremy of Good As You has the screenshots of the creative but too-late attempt by Save California (from gay marriage)’s Randy Thomasson to remove some serious sickness that was on his web site.
On it he compared ordering county clerks in California to marry same sex couples to a Nazi officer being ordered to gas the Jews during World War II. It’s so disgusting that someone probably told him it was a bit of a bad idea to run this, so rewrote the section — but not before the original had been cached by Google. Oops.
Do I even need to bother identifying U.S. Representative Paul Broun as a Republican? With an economic wasteland left by this president, as well as military carnage, waste, fraud, abuse, and corruption, of course this guy has to pull out the Homo Straw man — he has nothing else to run on. (Washington Blade):
Backlash from the California Supreme Court ruling in favor of gay marriage continued this week as U.S. Rep. Paul Broun (R-Ga.) said he plans to introduce an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to ban same-sex marriage. Broun, a freshman Congressman from Augusta, announced his intent May 20.See him bleat about the California Supreme Court ruling after the jump.U.S. Rep. Paul Broun says an amendment to the U.S. Constitution is needed to protect heterosexual marriage from ‘activist judges.’
“What the activist judges in California have shown is that the traditional definition of marriage is under assault by a cadre of lawyers and judges who hold the will of the voters in contempt,” Broun said in a press release. “As a result, a political and social question that should be resolved at the ballot box is being imposed by a handful of liberal elites.”
…Broun’s proposed amendment states: “Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the constitution of any state, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a woman.”

Guess someone told Goodtime Vito “it’s game over man.” The reason Fossella, who was arrested for DUI in Virginia (and was fornicating and procreating outside of his sacred marital bond), isn’t resigning is because there would have to be a special election held for his seat, and the Republicans don’t want to lose it. (Staten Island Advance):
In a bombshell announcement that brings the curtain down on one of the most storied careers in Staten Island political history, fifth-term Republican Rep. Vito Fossella will not seek re-election this fall.Apparently Fossella doesn’t care about any wounds he caused in the past to his lesbian sister, as the homophobic lawmaker will not attend any family events if she and her partner are there; he also voted for the Federal Marriage Amendment.Mired in scandal after revelations about the secret daughter he fathered with Virginia divorcee Laura Fay became public, Fossella (R-Staten Island/Brooklyn) tells constituents in a letter to be posted on his Web site tomorrow that he will no longer serve them in Congress after his current term expires on Jan. 3, 2009.
“After a great deal of consideration, I have made the decision not to seek re-election to the United States House of Representatives this November,” Fossella says in the statement. “This choice was an extremely difficult one, balanced between my dedication to service to our great nation and the need to concentrate on healing the wounds that I have caused to my wife and family.”

You knew the Prada Pope had to make a statement after the California Supreme Court said OK to marriage equality.
One day after California overturned a ban on same-sex marriage, the Holy Father has firmly stated that only marriage between a man and a woman is moral.(Here are some wonderful photos from a celebration in West Hollywood after the California Supreme Court’s historic decision.)…While the Pope did not directly mention the ruling in California in his address to the Forum of Family Associations and the European Federation of Catholic Family Associations, Benedict XVI stressed the importance of the traditional family for the good of society.
“The union of love, based on matrimony between a man and a woman, which makes up the family, represents a good for all society that can not be substituted by, confused with, or compared to other types of unions,” he said.
He continued by speaking of the rights of the traditional family, “founded on matrimony between a man and a woman, the natural cradle of human life.” Mention of the need to defend the family is not uncharacteristic for Pope Benedict, but his statement takes on particular relevance following the California ruling.
Since Pope Benedict has showered love on the bonds of heterosexual marriage yet again, I thought I’d post this food for thought. A horror on Long Island, NY:
Two toddlers have been placed in the care of Suffolk County Child Protective Services after police arrested their parents on drug and endangerment charges.Suffolk police responded to a Shell Road home around 3 pm May 9 after receiving a tip of possible animal abuse, according to police reports. They discovered a dog locked with its own filth in a small cage, without water, and entered the home.
Inside, they found a 4-year-old boy naked and a 2-year-old boy wearing a dirty diaper. They also found Jeffrey Littlefield, 24, and Heather Littlefield, 23, the boys’ parents, apparently under the influence of drugs, along with more than 200 used and uncapped hypodermic needles and “at least one hypodermic needle loaded with drugs,” according to a police statement.
Needles were in “virtually every room in the house,” the statement added. Also confiscated were two rifles with ammunition, several knives, used glassine bags and other drug paraphernalia, police said.
When Jeffrey Littlefield approached officers, he stumbled to the floor; Heather Littlefield was found unconscious on the bathroom floor, police said.

Whoops. We haven’t had a good one like this in, oh, a few weeks. This NY pol was not only fornicating outside the marital bond, he was procreating with a sex partner other than his wife. He receives bonus points for being charged with driving while intoxicated! (NYT):
Representative Vito J. Fossella, a Staten Island Republican who was arrested on May 1 in Alexandria, Va., and charged with drunken driving, issued a statement on Thursday acknowledging that he had had an extramarital affair with Laura Fay, a former Air Force lieutenant colonel, and that the two of them have a 3-year-old daughter together. You have to read Howie Klein’s take on this one.The prospect that Mr. Fossella could face a mandatory jail sentence if convicted had already threatened to bring to an end his decade-long career in the House, where Mr. Fossella is the only Republican representing New York City.
…Mr. Fossella, 43, was driving with a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit when he was pulled over. He faces a mandatory five days in jail if convicted.
…In the Democratic stronghold of St. George, the neighborhood nearest the ferry to Manhattan, patrons at the Cargo Cafe weighed in on the scandal.
“Vito Fossella’s behavior is a disgrace to himself, his family and to Staten Island,” said an anesthesiologist, Dr. John Ferguson, 44. “Given the fact that he votes along the Bush-Cheney line 90 percent of the time, which means he sees himself as a moral values candidate, I find his behavior completely, but not surprisingly, hypocritical. He should resign immediately.”
Hat tip, Linda.
Via Echidne, John McCain kills irony:
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who skipped a Senate vote seeking equal pay for women last night in order to campaign for president, said he opposed the measure because it would prompt a flood of lawsuits…The presumptive GOP nominee is visiting poor communities throughout the nation, including towns in Alabama and Appalachia; today he toured New Orleans’ Ninth Ward.
Do you suppose that ensuring female heads of households earned the same amount as their male counterparts might improve the economy of poor communities?
“I am all in favor of pay equity for women, but this kind of legislation, as is typical of what’s being proposed by my friends on the other side of the aisle, opens us up to lawsuits for all kinds of problems,” McCain told reporters yesterday. “This is government playing a much, much greater role in the business of a private enterprise system.”
As Echidne notes,
How would McCain achieve pay equity for women without any lawsuits? Perhaps if women ask very prettily?
SR 4-1239214t4325: RESOLVED, That women will be paid the same as men in equivalent positions, and also that this has always been the case, and that claims of former wage inequality are null and void, and maybe now this will shut women up even though they never had anything to complain about in the first place because they were always having babies and not applying themselves to their careers. Damn kids with their miniskirts.
He’s at it again. This time the “like-minded man” with Concerned Women for America is comparing homosexuality to smoking, drinking, toking and hitting the crack pipe. This, friends, is how he objects to the Day of Silence.
Can you imagine officials at a middle school, junior high or high school setting aside a day to promote “tolerance” for heavy smoking and drinking among children? How about a day where teachers encourage kids to “embrace who they are,” pick up that crack pipe and give it a stiff toke?More below the fold.Neither can I. The public would go ballistic, and for good reason.
But that hasn’t stopped officials in thousands of schools across the country from promoting other politically correct and socially “in-vogue” behaviors that - both statistically and manifestly - are every bit as dangerous as the aforementioned frowned-upon behaviors.
That’s exactly what the homosexual activist “Day of Silence” is all about - advancing, through clever, feel-good propaganda, full acceptance among children of the homosexual lifestyle.

Let’s bring the homobigotry closer to home. In my state, we have our own little junior Matt Barber/Sally Kern.
Thankfully Mary Francis Forrester isn’t an elected official, but she is the wife of anti-gay North Carolina State Senator, Jim Forrester (R-Gaston). More on him later.
She’s also a public homophobe — Mrs. Forrester is the legislative liaison and media coordinator for Concerned Women for America of North Carolina (she was also its former director). I think that tells you where this is going. She scribed a ridiculous, color-by-numbers screed on the predatory Homosexual Agenda that Matt Hill Comer of Q-Notes fact-checked and shredded.
Forrester, writing on the Christian Action League web site, selectively cited a piece in the defunct Gay Community News from 1987 as “proof” that the Homosexual Agenda has put into place its long-term vision of taking over.
More after the jump.

So I’m reading yet another article (via) telling women to “focus” on getting married and having babies instead of a career, because the career can wait and the babies can’t, and it occurred to me that these routine articles are similar to the pressure-heavy, heavily photoshopped magazine covers and impossibly thin mannequins out there. Which is to say, women are being held to a standard that doesn’t actually exist in the real world, and only exists to make women insecure, wandering around wondering if they should be doing something different, but have no idea what it could be. With the impossible beauty standards, it goes like this: after dieting and exercise and buying a bunch of products, and hair styling, and fashion-buying, you still can’t look like that, because what you really need is to be a two-dimensional image that’s been worked over for hours in Photoshop. With the no-career-have-babies-now mentality, you’re being scolded for either behaving in a way that will save you from dependency, i.e. being scolded for being a full, responsible citizen of the sort Americans are supposed to be, or being scolded for not doing what you’re already doing, but just not enough.
This article is a perfect example.
Wow. Kate and I just watched the mind-blowing video on CNN of Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, sitting in a church next to his wife, apologizing to her on camera for his diddling around with his former chief of staff Christine Beatty that included steamy text messages. His public admission of his behavior rankles many considering his stance on same-sex marriage.
See the incredible video after the jump.

Too delicious. Because it’s all about TEH NASTY SECKS — only if two homos are engaging in it. Unfortunately pious Chuck Rosenthal, who defended the Lone Star State’s sodomy laws may lose his job over decidedly family values-free content on his state-owned computer.
“I think that this Court having determined that there are certain kinds of conduct that it will accept and certain kinds of conduct it will not accept may draw the line at the bedroom door of the heterosexual married couple because of the interest that this Court has that this Nation has and certainly that the State of Texas has for the preservation of marriage, families and the procreation of children. “Even if you infer that various States acting through their legislative process have repealed sodomy laws, there is no protected right to engage in extrasexual - extramarital sexual relations, again, that can trace their roots to history or the traditions of this nation.”
– Texas District Attorney Chuck Rosenthal, in arguments to the Supreme Court in 2002’s ‘Lawrence v. Texas’ case.
The district attorney who defended the Texas law criminalizing homosexuality before the US Supreme Court is desperately trying to keep his job following the discovery of e-mails containing sexually explicit videos, racist jokes and what is described as torrid love notes to his executive secretary.Harris County District Attorney Chuck Rosenthal (R) is facing a state investigation into the emails which were discovered on his office computer.
If he is found in violation of “official misconduct'’ he could be removed from office. The office computer also contained evidence he had used it for political purposes.
The e-mails were found during discovery in a federal civil rights lawsuit. The plaintiffs in the case forced Rosenthal into a deposition where he was required to answer questions about the e-mails under oath.
