Jeremy of Good As You has the screenshots of the creative but too-late attempt by Save California (from gay marriage)’s Randy Thomasson to remove some serious sickness that was on his web site.

On it he compared ordering county clerks in California to marry same sex couples to a Nazi officer being ordered to gas the Jews during World War II. It’s so disgusting that someone probably told him it was a bit of a bad idea to run this, so rewrote the sectionbut not before the original had been cached by Google. Oops.

  1. Gee, Randy, why did you write about an iorder to “gas the Jews”? Why not an order to “gas the homos”?

Or would that be hitting a little too close to home?

My own town is being visited by the appalling “Genocide Awareness Project”, which seeks to blur awareness of genocide by conflating it with legal abortion.

I am so sick of these people. Why can’t they go to some island somewhere and leave America for those who love freedom?

With a name like “Randy” … from California …

Isn’t it kind of funny that even though we live in the age where information is so broad and readily available, and yet ignorance such as homophobia, the autism/vaccine thing, and 9/11 Trutherism still spreads like wild fire?

Maybe the open channels of information reveals that there are more nutjobs out there then we thought.

oops, I meant to post this in the evolution thread two threads below.

Yes, because helping two adults who love each other get married - even if thinking about them having sex makes one feel angry/upset/funny in the tummy is just like brutal genocidal slaughter. Uh-huh. Yep.

And even taking the abstract point - y’know, there’s a whole range of issues where gov’t officials having to follow policy rather than impose their own particular preferences is a good thing. They may, after all, be personally offended that one is marrying a member of another race/religion/age/culture/nationality, or by one’s choice of baby names, or that one sometimes gives their kid candy rather than organic carrot sticks, or that one is practicing/raising children in a specific denomination, etc., etc., etc.

Exactly. If I were a traffic cop, I’d want to be confiscating cars all fucking day. I don’t think stupid people should be allowed to drive.

  7. antimatter spork

I love the subtext that getting married is equivalent to being horribly murdered in a systematic attempt to destroy you and everyone like you.

Are fundies really that scared of sex?

No, it’s that they all secretly hate marriage, and they’re just trying to save gays from the misery.

  9. So if an atheist clerk refuses to issue a marriage license for a Christian couple because it’s against her beliefs to promote faith-based marriage, Thomasson is right behind her. Right?

    *crickets chirping*

  10. If Thomasson had lived in Germany in the 1940s, he would have been one of the guys who called the police whenever he suspected that one of his neighbors might be a homosexual or a Jew.

  11. that’s really just a nonsequitur on many levels.

So, being ordered to do something you don’t want to do which doesn’t actually harm anyone, but runs contrary to your beliefs about people who aren’t enough like you being happy.
compared to someone who does something they DO want to do (nazi officers don’t get that way from a city ordinance being passed.) which actually DOES harm people but they’re different enough from you that you get to pretend it doesn’t count.

it’s actually like the exact opposite (un)willing in a (positive/negative) act (against/for) a group you dislike that would make them (happy/dead).

  12. hey, let me hit the third rail while I’m still running - the hidden logic of this comparison is actually white supremacist!

The logic is : permitting people to live as Gays and Lesbians is part of a plan by “the Left” (whoever THEY are) to reduce the reproduction rate of “the White Race,” thereby eventually making it lose the “demographic race for survival.”

You could fill in the logic by reading Kevin MacDonald and that crowd, but now I’ve stated it, it’s obvious enough.
