The day I ‘expect’ to have sexual access to someone as hot as de Rossi due to my straightness is the day I know I’ve imbibed too many hallucinogens.

Have you read the book? Because it’s possible he wrote chapter after chapter discussing memorable trips to the loo. (Given his sense of humor, it wouldn’t even surprise me). In which case, he wouldn’t be hypoctical at all.

Sarah, I’m not trying to argue and honestly don’t care that much how Portia De Rossi identifies. My main point is that the stupider parts of the media may not see her as legitimately gay for that reason. I don’t agree with the idea that there are degrees of “gayness”, or that having a hetero relationship in your past makes you “not really a lesbian”, or even that there is a hard and fast line between lesbian and bisexual.

But I do see a lot of reasons why the MSM (which has a historical inability to get the finer points of all this stuff) might talk more about Ellen’s wedding, Ellen’s relationship, Ellen’s sexuality, etc. etc. aside from it just being about Portia presenting as more femme while Ellen’s public image is very much of the stereotypical short hair comfy shoes Lesbian ™ . Though I agree that there is also that element of it.
