Let me quote a perhaps more relevant portion of that same article:

It must be noted that the crowd did not laugh at the joke about someone pointing a gun at Obama. There are plenty of Democrats in the NRA and the NRA has supported many Democrats running for public office. Huckabee is the wingnut and the story is about him, not the NRA.

And unlike our other armed bretheren, I see little reason to advertise what I might be packing. Or even if.

Is it any surprise that our photo model is arguably using an unfair weapon, a sniper rife and large scope? You wouldn’t want your target to have a fair chance at firing back, after all.

Of course Obama isn’t going to take away our guns. We need them to defend ourselves against assbags like Huck and Mike. It’s amazing how the Internet tough guys who think a gun is a big, lead-filled penis start whining when they’re facing armed targets.

Seriously, fucked up. Huckabee, you’re going to hell–your sky fairy, will seriously send you to hell for the bullshit and hate speech you blather about on the tvee. Plus, there are 613 commandments, not 10, so wearing that polyblend fiber suit is just another sin against your very angry sky fairy, so you’re going to hell.

Assassination is how the Republicans deal with inspiring liberals–King, both Kennedys, etc. It would not surprise me if there were an attempt on Obama’s life in the course of this election or the presidency, lets just hope that the Secret Service is up to the job of protecting him and his family.

I’m feeding the troll here, I suppose. Still, as someone in graduate school specifically to study Latin and Greek, I have to jump in here.

I’d really be interested in hearing from Mike which of Plutarch’s historical biographies contained that particular quote. I’d also be interested in hearing what type of gun he was brandishing at the time.

Hector B., could we change “real” to “mature”? ‘Cause my father-in-law is a mature gun nut who doesn’t joke about such things, but I’ve known a couple of people, one (”Big Mike”) an expert marksman, who made wisecracks about gun safety as a matter of course.

And of course he’s describing something that never happened, but instead an imagined scene to make everyone in the audience laugh.

This is funny, because:

1) Obama has supported gun control laws in Illinois?

2) He’s black?
