If you haven’t seen it, here’s the highlight reel of my last reading at Book People.

It’s a good time! Luckily, for those in Austin who missed the experience the first time around, I’ll be reading at Book Woman tonight at 7PM. Show up and buy some books, yo. Feminist bookstores were the backbone of feminism for a long time, and we’re lucky to have one of the remaining ones in Austin, and they could use the support. I’m sure readers of this blog will find many tempting tomes at Book Woman. I won’t make it out alive with my hands empty, I’m sure. Much to the consternation of those who have to share my living space, because the piles of books around here on my “To Read” list is getting insane.

I have bought books at women’s bookstores for years, but their number are dwindling. And I live in the Boston area, which was once home to many feminist bookstores as well as other specialty bookstores. I do my small part by shopping at independent bookstores (no Amazon for me).
Wish I could make it, but I don’t think my boss would be happy if I just up and left work at 6:30, especially since we’re getting a “surprise” visit by our regional supervisor this afternoon.
Not living anywhere near Austin, I just wanted to note that the image on the page here (at the start of the video) would be good as a possible Amanda author pic.
I never realized she pronounced the “t” in often, however. So as much as I’d like to hear her read from her book, that would give me pause.
i like when people pronounce the “t” in often. it makes a nice crisp sound, and i love words that really pop.
my actual purpose in commenting is to make a bad joke, namely
“buuuuuuut amannnnnnnnnnnnnnda, arent book women book people tooooooooooooooo?!!!!”
