He’s at it again. This time the “like-minded man” with Concerned Women for America is comparing homosexuality to smoking, drinking, toking and hitting the crack pipe. This, friends, is how he objects to the Day of Silence.
Can you imagine officials at a middle school, junior high or high school setting aside a day to promote “tolerance” for heavy smoking and drinking among children? How about a day where teachers encourage kids to “embrace who they are,” pick up that crack pipe and give it a stiff toke?More below the fold.Neither can I. The public would go ballistic, and for good reason.
But that hasn’t stopped officials in thousands of schools across the country from promoting other politically correct and socially “in-vogue” behaviors that - both statistically and manifestly - are every bit as dangerous as the aforementioned frowned-upon behaviors.
That’s exactly what the homosexual activist “Day of Silence” is all about - advancing, through clever, feel-good propaganda, full acceptance among children of the homosexual lifestyle.
He goes on to cite a study to bolster his claim.
To the consternation of “gay” activist flat-earthers and homosexual AIDS holocaust deniers everywhere, one such study - conducted by pro-”gay” researchers in Canada - was published in the International Journal of Epidemiology (IJE) in 1997. (see the study here: http://ije.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/reprint/26/3/657.pdf )As we so often see with the homo-obsessed crowd, in Bam Bam’s world, lesbians don’t exist or maybe they don’t engage in “gay sex“. The study, by the way, is quite narrow and clearly is not indicative of the sexual history of all gay men, as Matt would have you believe. While the medical consensus is that smoking knocks from two to 10 years off an individual’s life expectancy, the IJE study found that homosexual conduct shortens the lifespan of “gays” by an astounding “8 to 20 years” - more than twice that of smoking.
…This morose reality makes a strong case for a fitting redefinition of so-called “homophobia,” that being “Homophobia: The rational fear that ‘gay sex’ will kill you!”
The fact that we don’t have mandatory surgeon general warnings on the side of condom wrappers is a testament to the power and influence wielded by the radical homosexual lobby. (Warning: Male-male anal sodomy has been proven to shorten your lifespan by up to 20 years.)
Our analysis is based on a demographic model of male mortality and life expectancy in the city of Vancouver, British Columbia. This urban centre, part of the third largest metropolitan population in Canada, was selected because it is known to have a large gay and bisexual population and one of the highest rates of HIV/AIDS mortality of any Canadian city. 2,3 In this city, HIV/AIDS is the leading cause of death in men between the ages of 25 and 39 years and the leading cause of premature mortality in men before age 75 years. What does the above have to do with bullying and violence in schools? Matt again makes the tenuous connection between “gay sex” and the Day of Silence.
In light of the irrefutable medical facts, it should be considered criminally reckless for educators to teach children that homosexual conduct is a normal, safe and perfectly acceptable alternative form of sexual expression (or “sexual orientation”).…Our schools are supposed to be places of learning, not places of political indoctrination. It’s the height of impropriety and cynicism for “gay” activists and school officials to use good-hearted but misguided children as pawns in their attempt to further a deceptive, highly controversial and polarizing political agenda.
DOS is pure, unadulterated propaganda and, based on the medical science, amounts to nothing short of educational malpractice. With liberal school officials in tow, these militant homosexual activists are brazenly circumventing and abusing parental authority to further this dangerous political agenda. DOS is also a slap in the face to the many students with traditional moral values.

When, oh when, will we ever get a day of silence from these wingnuts?
Wait, I thought we were homosexualationalismalists.
Heh. Barber’s got nothing on Pastor Hayes Wicker. He says that the fact that Florida doesn’t have a Constitutional amendment barring same-sex marriage is the worst social crisis ever–including slavery.
Moreover, they’re comparing it to UNDERAGE drinking and smoking.
“including slavery.”
Haven’t you heard? Slavery was actually good for blacks. Except I suppose that WOULD make it a serious social crisis. /s
Ummm, but if they tought COMPREHENSIVE SEXUAL EDUCATION the children would know about the various risks associated with all kinds of sexual activity, and would know if their behavior, gay or straight, was ‘high risk.’ (Because straight kids aren’t having anal sex to keep their ‘v-cards’ and of course, all gay males engage in anal sex in an unsafe manner. /snark)
My grandmother, an eighty-something ex-Baptist, once had an argument with her sister and aunt after the sister casually jumped into the “God’s punishment” AIDS nonsense. My grandmother said, after her sister said that God hated gays, “well he must sure love lesbians!”
The fastest-growing group of persons infected with AIDS in America is young Afircan-American women. But we should be anti-gay in our schools, instead of giving comprehensive sex ed. not just those who are more likely to be infected—straight females—but to all of those who bear the risk of infection—sexually active persons.
The hypocrisy and the deaths it will lead to make me want to despair.
Um… Aren’t most things that gay couples do when having sex the same things that straight couples do? Or is it only “dangerous” when TEH GHEYS do it?
The stupid, it burnsssss us….
Plus, oral sex is lower risk than PIV, particularly when done with a barrier method (for almost all diseases.) (Assuming that lesbian women have more oral sex than the straights.)
He’s just acting out before the next President implements Civil Service for hires. That means having credentials and going to real schools. The end of wingnut welfare, huzzah!
OMGNOWAY! Srsly? Then that means we should put proper sex ed back in the schools, because “abstinence only” is a political indoctrination!
SMARTS….you has dem.
The DOS is certainly a laudable student activity, but as a curricular program I have a mild objection, particularly if it supplants academic time in classrooms. The idea is not just an across the board anti-bullying program; it is specifically targeted at anti-LGBT bullies.
From the DOS website, there are four ‘truths’about the event:
The emphasis on “encouraged” is mine. Such encouragement in a school setting is often coercive.
Bullying in school apparently is a growing problem and the schools do need to devise strategies to counter it, whether the targets or LGBT kids or just out of the norm fat, ugly, weak or small.
Of course, being gay is also dangerous because you might be assaulted, even murdered, by people who listen too closely to the likes of Mr. Barber. Somehow that doesn’t make it into his list of risk factors.
Two things that occur to me.
Making laws to protect gay people doesn’t encourage more people to be gay. It encourages gay people to be open about their sexuality. They’ll still be gay if you make them hide.
Secondly, I think my life span would also be shortened if I got beaten to death for being gay. Isn’t that kind of like saying… don’t be gay, because we’ll beat you to death?
Second set of points that just occurred to me.
1) On the subject of gay marriage, all these kooks say it will destroy marriage in general. If 50% of marriages ended in gayness, I’d have to agree. By that logic, why don’t we abolish the money system, since most divorces involved financial troubles in the family?
2) If gays all over were suddenly clutching their chests mid-swive, and falling over dead, I’d have to agree that gay sex kills.
srsly, is he really using Vancouver as an example? that’s rich… considering a huge percentage of men with AIDS/HIV in Vancouver are straight, and contracted the disease through unsafe drug practises, not unsafe sex.
jackass…
Hmmm, it seems to me that the study is really saying AIDS kills, not “gay sex”. And that, of course, is no great shocker. But that doesn’t rally the troops like it once did, with hetero transmission outstripping homosexual transmission in this third decade of the epidemic. Essentializing it down to a buzz word like “gay sex” is sooo much more appealing to the cro-mags who feel it is their God-appointed duty to dumb everyone down to their level.
“Or is it only “dangerous” when TEH GHEYS do it?”
I imagine it’s on average more dangerous when gays do it. When has marginalizing the hell out of a group, denying them accurate information about sexually transmissible diseases, making preventative care difficult to obtain, and engaging in society-level emotional and psychological abuse ever resulted in said group having better sexual health than the norm?
Of course, the way the same jackasses who’ve been working against gay rights since forever have been crusading against non-procreative straight sex, I imagine any current statistical gap will be narrowing by no small amount.

‘Gay sex kills’
If it’s *that* good, perhaps I should give it a try.
Is the name “Paul Cameron” lurking anywhere around this story?
I find it incredibly – and this happens quite a bit – to read an entire article or op-ed about gay sex that doesn’t once mention gay women. Perhaps they think lesbians just hold hands? Really, though, it’s usually because it blows any ‘gay sex is wrong even if you don’t believe in teh gods, even science says so’ theories to pieces.
HN1 sez:
This is me talking entirely through my hat here, but I wonder if it isn’t because woman/woman sex is a feature in pornography, and therefore they don’t think they can get the mouthbreathers all outraged when it comes to attacking that to which they enjoy wanking off? It just doesn’t carry the same “ick factor” with them as teh buttsechs does.
Gay sex kills, huh? Tell that to women in various countries who get killed by STDS brought back by cheating husbands. Condoms would save them and any of these supposedly at-risk gay guys, but God forbid we promote condoms. People will have sex.
Gah.
Regarding ignoring lesbians, could it be as simple as no spooge and no anal?
The #1 obsession that always seems to come up when the loonies go off on gay men is anal sex. Don’t know why, but it never ceases to come up.
Quickly followed by claims they “recruit” children and engage-in (or comparisons to) bestiality…

I only quibble with the last three words. No, not sexually active persons. Persons who will ever be sexually active all need comprehensive sex ed. All of them.
Anyone who will ever have sex, for any purpose, should know all about their anatomy, their partner’s anatomy, the changes to expect from/during sex, procreation (if that is the goal), etc. This is the duty of the schools to ensure all students become fully educated adults able to care for themselves and their families. Sex ed is not about sex really, it is about life-long health.

No, it’s because most of these goofs think that if there’s no penis involved, it can’t be sex.
Also oftentimes they think that there are no such things as lesbians because that would imply that women actually want sex, as opposed to having to put up with the humiliating and disgusting affair of having sex with men so that they can “have babies.” Isn’t that how it’s supposed to work — men want sex, women want babies?
A local high school (local for me anyways) is participating tomorrow. Protests and counter-protests have been in planning since it was announced. Reverend Hutcherson will be present and, one assumes, leading protests against the Day of Silence.

This is not the first time Mt. Si has clashed with Hutcherson….

Interrobang:
Good points. I would also add that some believe lesbians don’t truly exist because (pick 1)
A. They haven’t found a man that can satisfy them yet, “but they haven’t met me……..”
B. They’re only doing it to attract men
C. Their voracious sexual appetites drive them to seek kinky sex
D. A and B, B and C, A and C, C to the third power, and (A+B) * C
Regardless, it’s all about the penis.
I think these goofballs can’t get it into their heads that sex is just a route of transmission for HIV. They seem to really believe that sex is some kind of spontaneous generator of diseases.
