  1. oh shucks, No Boston side trip. We read books up here too!^)

  2. Seriously, like New York is so great.
    I feel slighted.

  3. Rose

Well, if you’re going to be in NYC maybe I’ll stop by. Haven’t been to a book signing in quite a while.

  4. I promise that I’ll keep working on a way to get you down for a reading here in the Triangle!

  5. junk science

I just finished it. Awesome read, especially the analysis of women’s shoes. And I’m unspeakably proud to have been called “irascible” in print.

  6. encephalopath

    Come to Portland too…

  7. Nicole

Nooo! Come to Boston! *flails desperately at you*

  8. So what is Cleveland, chopped liver? Tertiary markets need love, too.

  9. Pansy P

No Philly? It’s only an hour and a half on the train! You could come visit and be ecologically friendly at the same time!

  10. togolosh

DC has a passel of politically involved young ‘uns who like to read. Just sayin’.

  11. seebach

I finished reading your book in one sitting, and I’ve passed it onto my girlfriend. She’s always been a feminist, even standing up to classmates in high school. She’s always been looking for some more intellectual foundations for it, but as a student, she doesn’t have time for Backlash. She’s really enjoyed being able to pull your book out between classes and at breaks at work.

  12. seebach

Oh yeah… and I hope to be able to stop by at Book People.

  13. FashionablyEvil

Hello, Atlanta??? We read here too!

  14. Nicole #2

And here in St. Louis we are in desperate need of some feminist shenanigans. For mega reals.

  15. Woodrowfan

    2 words: Dee Cee.

  16. Are you going to be on C-SPAN’s Book TV? I want to know so I can tune in. I’ll check to see if the book is available in the Aiken Mall.

  17. the opoponax

Yay! I’ll be at one of the New York signings.

  18. You know, if Bill Clinton could make a side trip to Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, to campaign for his wife, surely you could stop by to autograph my copy.

After all, you’ve got to be a little bit curious to see what your favorite sexist pig troll really is like. :)

  19. Ooh. KGB is a fun space for readings. Just watch out for the bathrooms…

  20. Flamethorn

    Aw, no Virginia stop? :(

There are lots of bookstores in Richmond!

  21. jackson

great book amanda. funny and angry and true. I’m making my 14 year old son read it.

  22. Elizabeth

Jackson says, “I’m making my 14 year old son read it.”

You can MAKE a 14 year old read something? Awesome! I’m impressed! What? He gets no supper til he finishes the book?

I would think that a 14 year old boy would just want to sit and stare at the cover of this book.

  23. Amazon was kind enough to let me view the back cover without swiping my credit card. I must say, you are doing a hell of a lot better than that shit-fer-brains Feith. In a years time we will all be remembering your book for its insights and only a few Republicans will point to Feith…they will need a scapegoat. Perhaps he can get a book tour of Gitmo.

Now seriously, how ’bout Boston? You know you could get a lot of readers up here.

  24. How bout DC??? I see I’m not the only one there…

  25. We’re working on DC.

  26. Foucault

Oh how KOOL! I will finally get to meet you in person! (I may be too embarrassed to tell you who I am, but at least I will come out to buy your book).

    XO
    Foucault

  27. Austin is much closer to Flagstaff than New York… but it’s still 16 hours. You don’t suppose you could mosey a few hours closer do ya? Make it so I could make a weekend out of it?

  28. I don’t suppose you could make a stop in Richmond? (In which case, i could bring my thirteen year old, who devoured your book in two days and, just as I suspected, is refusing to give it back - wants to share it w/ her girlfriends at school.)

I could maybe make a DC reading if that ends up materializing.

  29. Book touring in Aspen and Berlin are not recommended.

  30. Amanda, I should have said that link in my comment above is for you…you’ll get a laugh or a groan or both out of it.

  31. You ARE working on DC? omg. That would be SO awesome. Please keep us posted!!

  32. Pansy P

Heh, Dana, the “Jim Thorpe exit here” sign on the Northeast Extension is my single favorite highway sign. Makes me giggle every time I drive past it. Even when I accidentally make plans to take the exit the same day as the Pocono 500 and it takes me 30 minutes to get through Lehighton.

Though I suppose my *real* favorite sign is the one in England announcing that you are entering Cockermouth. Laughed for days about that one.

  33. Pansy: Since my name isn’t Jim Thorpe, I didn’t know if I was allowed to exit there, but took a chance and did anyway! :)

Next time you pass that sign, you can wave to me at the concrete plant you’ll pass on the right another mile further down.

However, when it comes to funny signs, there are a couple in Lehighton which state that the speed limit is “Electrically Enforced.” That always brings to mind an image of a cattle prod . . .

  34. I might be able to make the Tuesday night @ the KGB bar.

Dana, I might have driven past there some 20 years ago. My uncle has a place in Albrightsville (I think that’s what it is called) and I remember the Jim Thorpe sign.

  35. Do they have the Jim Thorpe sign on hinges so they can flip it over to read “Mauch Chunk” every few decades?

  36. Ros

Any chance of Canadian dates? :)

  37. Elizabeth Barnes

I ordered the book and read it and loved it! Great job Amanda! I live in WV so I highly doubt that I will make it to one of these places. But I just wanted to tell you that I love the book and am a big fan of you!

  38. Tommy: Albrightsville is correct; that’s a “town” about fifteen miles north of JT on Route 903.

Ron: No, the sign is securely bolted fast. However, there are bumper stickers that can be seen around town in which the bearers proclaim themselves to be “Chunkers by Choice.”

There are still a few things around town which refer to Mauch Chunk, my favorite being a stained glass transom window over a church entrance naming it the Mauch Chunk Church of Christ.

But, most important is the Mauch Chunk Historical Society, which sponsors the local architectural preservation work around here.

  39. Dr. Hermione Granger, PhD

KGB!?! I don’t even have to pay subway fare to see you!! Mr. Granger loves that bar, so I can bring him along too.

Once again, I *heart* New York City.

  40. Darn! I won’t be able to make it after all!

On Wednesday I am flying down to Fort Lauderdale to do the open water dive portion of my PADI open water dive course, and my dive shop scheduled me for Tuesday evening to do my refresher pool dive, as I haven’t done any scuba since the summer. Oh well. Hope you have a good time during your visit Amanda.

  41. Bill

    IMPORTANT ! MISPRINT!
For those of us in NYC who will join you next week at KGB: The address of the KGB Bar is at 85 EAST 4th ST, near SECOND AVENUE (not West 4th St.)

  42. Just finished your book and loved it. Multiple flights are conducive to reading as I cannot be online ;-)

Although I am traveling and have spotty online access, I will keep trying with Pam to bring you over here.

  43. Oh, the only thing I did not like about the book is that at the end of each chapter I was looking for the “Blaspheme” button and could not find it!

  44. Nx

Any chance you’ll be coming up to New Haven (only a 2 hour train ride away!) for your book tour?

  45. You can MAKE a 14 year old read something?

Generally, telling them they’re too young to be exposed to such adult themes and then leaving it lying around “accidentally” will work…

  46. I just posted a review on Amazon. I hope you like it ;-)
