"Studies show, no society that has totally embraced homosexuality has lasted for more than, you know, a few decades. . ."

what studies? by who? done when? and what societies?

"…They are going after our young children, as young as two years of age, to try to teach them that the homosexual lifestyle is an acceptable lifestyle"

being a homosexual is acceptable and it's not a lifestyle. And technically straight people are "going after" children as well. It's just that being straight is apparently better.

"One of my colleagues said We don’t have a gay problem in our community…well you know what, that is so dumb. If you have cancer in your little toe, do you just say that I’m going to forget about it since the rest of you is fine? It spreads! This stuff is deadly and it is spreading. It will destroy our young people and it will destroy this nation."

Hate is deadly. Hate is spreading. Hate destroys people. thats the only thing thats happening here.

There's a newspaper message board up in PA that supports this type of hate speech. Be careful, anyone who defends gays gets banned from the site.

talkback(dot)lancasteronline(dot)com(frontslash)index(dot)ph p?showtopic(equals)65064

It won't let me post with the dots and slashes so replace them as needed

Pablo took the words right out of my mouth. However, while blaming Christianity for Rome's fall makes for a fun riposte to an idiot who would blame gayness, it's oversimplifying to the point of glibness. Significantly, they had a military unsuited for imperial responsibilities, and a self-centered arrogance that precluded them from seeing themselves as others saw them.

Doesn’t that still mean Christianity can still be to blame for the fall of Rome? Had there been no church to have no schism there would have been no fall. And how long had Rome been powerful BEFORE Christianity came around? One hundred years is still ten decades (hence, “a few decades”)and that’s all Rome lasted once it came under Christian rule, supposedly.

yes, it does. but ERIC was saying "no, HOMOS killed rome, Christianity had nothing to do with it" based, presumably, on the fact that rome fell roughly 400 years after the invention of christianity.

Which, while true, has nothing to do with when rome accepted it.

The homobigots have a handy murky language thing in this case, too, as they said that the cultures collapsed after "totally" accepting gays. so if a gay-accepting culture didn't fall until centuries later, it doesn't matter, because it didn't TOTALLY accept gays until just before the collapse, so homosex is proven evil based on empty words that don't need facts to back them up.

Christianity has a direct causal relationship with the fall of Rome. anyone who says otherwise never studied ancient history. Not that it matters, because all civilizations fall. it's what they do. they rise, florish, decay and fall. There has never, and will never, be a civilization that does not follow that pattern. America will fall. It is as inevitable as various principalities setting up in different regions of North America following, only to in turn fall themselves because Guin Lineford, Prince of Bostonia, is a double crossing asshole.

Eric- Rome fell in large part due to the schism within the church after the death of Theodosius, although that was around 400 CE, the empire only adopted christianity about 100 years earlier.
