BTW, Godwin’s Law only refers to the probability of invoking fascism/Nazis/Hitler, not that doing so invalidates someone argument. In many cases, especially as the Reichwing has become more bolder in recent decades, the comparison is very apt.

WTF? How is “fundie” a term of hatred? I guarantee that Pam does not hate people simply because they are christian fundamentalists. (I seriously doubt she actually “hates” anyone at all). Pam, and the rest of us, is upset and disappointed that many followers of fundamentalist christianity are intolerant of other races, other religions, and especially in Pam’s case, other orientations.

Even if “hate” were involved, perveyers of intolerance need not, and should not, be tolerated…

As a matter of fact, I’m very liberal and don’t live in a big city. I’m in a town of population 10,000, so draw your own conclusions.

I have a strange doubt that you even know what Godwin’s Law is. (most people don’t, actually, they only know the implications of it and assume that it’s the same thing).

That term has been used for a while now. It’s short hand for fundamentalist. The use of the term has nothing to do with hate.

The terms “cracker” and “Rethuglican” do not belong with the other terms.

I know many Catholics/Christians/males/Fundies who are decent, respectable (if misguided) individuals. I would guess that most Pandagonians could say the same.

“Cracker”, in any usage I’ve at Pandagon, is a specific term referring to knee-jerk racist white men. No one can credibly argue that holding such people in contempt is wrong.
Similarly, “Rethuglican” is a term referring to people who use the name “Republican” to disguise what they actually are and what they actually do. These people believe in the police state, want a “unitary executive” king, recognize no right to privacy, believe there is no area where government may not intrude - especially in matters of sexuality, think torture is great, love government spending as long as the money ends up in cronies’ pockets - in short, they have nothing to do with any reasonable definition of “Republican” that was in use before the last 30-40 years. People like that do not deserve respect either.

So kevin, if you’re a cracker and/or a Rethuglican, go straight to hell. If not, you need some serious therapy…
