“Oh, by the way, for some context, a lot of these Jungle Girls and strong female heroes originate from WWII, when a lot of artists got drafted and replaced by women writers and cartoonists.”

This one is a Marvel comic from 1954. The artist is Russ Heath, famous for "Sgt.Rock", "Little Annie Fanny" and a bunch of National Lampoon parodies. As well as those Roman soldiers ads in the comics in the 60's. He's 81 and still works in comics occassionally.

Three stories in the book were drawn by Werner Roth who died in 1973; the other by George Tuska who's alive and well and drawing in Florida.

"Emily, if “certain commenters/bloggers” need plaster tire tracks, foot prints, dog smelling prints and twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one before they can understand a piece of obvious humour, that’s their problem."

Gee, what does that remind me of?

"Can't you feminists take a joke?"

I truly appreciate you taking the concerns on the previous thread into consideration. I am now officially excited to go and preorder this book!

Congrats Amanda.

I fully support the idea of a stop in western Massachusetts, assuming it is made en route to central Massachusetts, preferably somewhere in the middle of Worcester and therefore within walking or bus distance of me. Show up early enough on Tuesday or Thursday and we'll drag you out to a trivia game afterwards.

Maybe the cover is meant to tell us that the inhospitable environment is Florida; judging by the wide snout, that's an alligator, not a crocodile.

Well, since the cover has the heroine in a maillot, I guess she's safe! :)
