I’m not sure that Frank “Monkey Boy” Cho belongs in such tedious company as Muir:
* Liberty Meadows is often funny, (but not as much as it used to be, admittedly).
* Visually, both Jen and Brandy are cliché ultrababes but they are also complex, dynamic, accomplished and totally in control characters, usually far more on the ball than anybody around them. Jen, for example, is not the eyetoy for boys that Muir’s female characters are; she is tied into her own sexuality and uses it to cheerfully control every tongue-dragging male that she chooses to.
* Cho doesn’t use his strip as a convenient vehicle for clumsy, stupid political posturing which never goes beyond the thought level of a freeper (or liberal) bumpersticker.

I guess it’s not surprising that Muir would buy the idiotic Jonah Goldberg (hey, that’s redundant!) “librul fascist” meme.

I’d say you’re not being fair to poor Jonah, but alas, I made the mistake of reading some of his writing.

In response to Dave Neiwert pointing out that fascists tended to view pacifism as working for the enemy, Goldberg pointed out that liberals have long stated that if one is not part of the solution, one is part of the problem.

All I can think is that one has to really work hard to be that stupid.

Mind you, it’s productive hard work… I mean, try to create a soundbite out of that to show how stupid he has to be. I don’t think you can. There’s *so much stupidity* wrapped up in there that you have to explain *which* bit of stupidity you’re countering, and that puts you past soundbite length. It’s like a black hole of stupid, where the actual type of stupid has collapsed on itself and can’t be reconstructed, but it’s still there, it’s still having an effect, it’s just lost its form.

Um. Oh, yeah, right. Anyway: I think you’re right about Muir.

Honestly, what fucking losers these people are to take this speech as a personal lecture instead of as a rallying cry and a statement against “politics as usual”. After all, that’s the basis of Obama’s campaign, isn’t it? Change? She was talking to campaign workers, right, not the country at large, so what the hell? Talk about reaching.

But, no, even so, it fell into their ears so now they’re upset. The very concept, even in the abstract, is an affront to their way of life. THEIR lives are just fine. Why should THEY change anything? Why should they do anything to help out the country, so everyone ELSE can be fine, too? OH, no. We can’t have that.

Mothworm, I think she might be pointing to the Hitler mustache, so you won’t miss it, as the Impossible Boob Situation is kinda distracting.

I actually like all this Obama = Hitler stuff, as it makes all the 19%ers reveal their crazy to everone- I don’t think it accomplishes anything but make themlook ridiculous.

The Knoxville News-Sentinel has replaced Boondocks in its weekly editorial page with Day By Day. I guess they want something beside Mallard Fillmore to “balance out” Doonesbury.

It’s just because Doonesbury is made of so much awesome that it takes two strips made of suck to prevent the newspaper from catching fire due to all the win? I don’t know.

And mothworm: Yes, it looks to me like Muir drew both her finger and the mustache itself.

Does anyone even understand the joke he thought he was making? Nothing in that last panel approaches anything even near coherence. I’m reminded of Lisa Simpson’s comment upon seeing a sign reading “Yahoo Serious Film Festival”: “I know those words, but the sentence makes no sense”.

Also, it’s kind of hard to tell, but I think Muir may have drawn the girl making the “hitler mustache” sign with her finger, and the mustache itself.
