Yeah, and who is surprised at this? After all, he’s not a homo; that would have landed it on the front page.

A Washington Post Style editor killed a story on a New Orleans madam who alleged she arranged trysts for Louisiana senator David Vitter (R-LA), a Post gossip columnist says.

Post gossip guru Amy Argetsinger arranged an interview with a madam in New Orleans after Vitter admitted his name appeared on the phone records of a DC madam. Speaking to the Washington City Paper’s Erik Wemple in an article published Friday, she said her editor, Steve Reiss, “spiked the story on sourcing grounds.”

“Reiss was aware that everyone else was writing about her but said that we can’t use that as an excuse—in essence, that the Post had to take the higher moral ground,” Argetsinger said in an email.

The MSM and higher moral ground?

  1. Speaking of the Washington Post and the higher moral ground, this political cartoon just ran Monday in the Houston Chronicle by Pat Oliphant.

Note the placement of the smoke connecting the L and the I to form a different letter. Does anyone believe this is an accident.

Oxymoron association works best if you’re a sleeping bat.

    Antinome:

Considering Pat Oliphant’s rampaging hatred for all that is Hillary Clinton, I’d say the answer is a resounding “YES!” flashing in a thousand Vegas-style bulbs (kewpie doll included). No, it’s not only your imagination. ;-)

  3. That cartoon is vile. It took me a second to get it(I’m still pre-coffee this morning), so I imagine there will be all kinds of apologists insisting it’s not on purpose. Even though cartoonists generally think very carefully about how they present every aspect of the cartoon.

And on topic, I think Pam is totally right. If Vitter had been seeing male hookers, this would have been all over. The MSM won’t miss any opportunity to make it look like the queers are freaky deviants.

Considering Pat Oliphant’s rampaging hatred for all that is Hillary Clinton,

Rampaging is mild way of putting it. Oliphant is deranged in a way that puts to shame most of the 30%’s towards Sen. Clinton.

  5. That Oliphant cartoon makes me sick.

Not enough to vote for Hillary, but mad enough to want to.

It’s like suffrage–the country is always ready to lose its racial bias before its gender bias.

  6. Oliphant used to be trenchant, funny, and acerbic. Now, like Jonny Hart, he is pointless and derivative.

    The Oliphant cartoon — wtf?

Regarding Vitter: was the Washington Post consistent about their standard for scandal sources? Vitter was outed by a madam’s phonebook; Larry Craig, for example, was arrested and adjudicated.

  8. Vitter is one of the villagers, of whom no evil may be printed.
