“Dazed and Confused” is the movie I always wanted to make when I was in HS–because that’s how HS was when I was there, right down to the arcade (which was across the street from my HS,)and the fight at the keg party.

here’s a question for the literary folks: what’s the difference between a “coming of age narrative” and a Bildungsroman?

The classic forms of the latter have things like escaping the control of the father/violating a sense of communal standards/a new stasis in which things have been “set right,” etc….

we are, after all, talking about a narrative form. Is there something that separates “coming of age” from “bildungsroman”?

“Breaking Away” - great coming of age movie. Really just a great movie. The serenade scene is wonderful, so is the bicycle - truck race.
