I guess he really doesn't like Huckabee? You'd think he'd still have at least as much of a shot at the nomination as Giuliani.

I'd LOVE to see Rudy, Mitt, McCain and Huckabee justify THIS, but it'll never happen.

I get the feeling that Rudy makes the ‘military/industrial complex’ get a platinum woody over thoughts of Rudy escalating Bush’s war on democracy across the world.

I get the feeling that this entire election makes the military-industrial complex get a platinum woody over the fact that none of the major candidates from either major party has expressed any interest in reigning in our bloated defense budgets.

Tweety's comment is premised on the notion that Giuliani did not try to compete in any of the states so far. There are two problems with this notion:

First, who cares? He still lost. A forfeit is just another form of loss.

Second, it's not even true. Guiliani was spending like a drunken sailor in NH until he decided to pull out in December. Between November 10 and December 9 of last year alone he spent $1.7 million in NH, more than Romney ($1.3 million) and McCain ($1.2). Competing and quitting because you're losing is not the same thing as not competing.

Of course, the Giuliani campaign has simply lied about this, claiming that they didn't even try to win any of these states. And the MSM is, of course, either too damn lazy or too committed to reporting-as-stenography to spend thirty seconds on Google (or just look at their own reporting from two months ago) and call Giuliani on his lies.

Here's a take on Matthews's statement:

Rudy has pulled out of all the early states. That doesn't mean he didn't run there. But, the longer he runs in a state, the lower his numbers seem to go. Tweety is seeming to say that because Rudy hasn't seriously contested any of these early states, he hasn't "really" lost yet. The problem is that he did contest them, found it a losing proposition, and moved his attempts elsewhere.

He's been beaten soundly.

Tweety's mancrush is kind of creepy.

(to add to MikeEss, a la South Park)

...but before they can go on air, the entire press corp somehow lose all of their notes! So they all come back and ask for the interpretation again. Matthews and Scarborough return to the basement and after a few minutes, emerge with a new and different interpretation, this time for Romney. And because it IS different, that PROVES it is a true interpretation!

Dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb!

(Hey- it's either that or say that Chris Mattews seeing his shadow means 6 more weeks of primaries...)
