“I Got Cat Class & I Got Cat Style” edition:
1. Nothing’s Gonna Stand In Our Way - Spectre General (From the soundtrack to the first Transformers movie, in case you were wondering.)
2. Sometimes Wanna Die - Joydrop
3. Knocking At Your Back Door - Deep Purple
4. Papercut - Linkin Park
5. Fourteen Years - Guns ‘N’ Roses (I owned Use Your Illusion II for this many years plus two, and it wasn’t until I watched this that I realized “Hey, that’s IZZY singing the verses instead of just Axl using a different voice, like it was Axl using a different voice on ‘Mr. Brownstone’! That WAS Axl on ‘Mr. Brownstone’, right? Right? Please?)
6. Just Like A Pill - Pink (Somehow they managed to put several dozen rabbits in the same room with Pink and ensure that no funny business went on between any two of them long enough to film the scene. That’s how you know this video has an EXCELLENT director.)
7. Everybody Wants You - Billy Squier
8. Pistol Grip Pump - Rage Against The Machine (Shoulda been a single off Renegades. OK, a lot of words would get bleeped, but that never hurt Jay-Z much.)
9. December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night) - The Four Seasons
10. Reach Out - Cheap Trick (I heard this for the first time when I watched Heavy Metal and thought “I must have that!” Much of the footage this song is set to is just stuff short from the inside of a fighter jet’s cockpit. That’s boring if you aren’t really there, so my recommendation is to just minimize the window and listen, but if you want to miss the opportunity to look at something more interesting while hearing this then I surely won’t stand in your way.)
Fear not! Here. Not exactly a pic, but it is a cat and I think it’ll hold your interest.
All from the 1982-1986 minimal-hit wonder subgenre in my portable player:
1. Talking in Your Sleep (The Romantics)
2. Be Near Me (ABC)
3. Walking on Sunshine (Katrina & The Waves)
4. Major Tom/Coming Home (Peter Schilling)
5. Neutron Dance (Pointer Sisters… alright, they probably don’t belong here, but we’re talking hits in the 80s)
6. Lay Your Hands on Me (Thompson Twins)
7. Something About You (Level 42)
8. Much Too Late for Goodbyes (Julian Lennon)
9. I Melt With You (Modern English)
10. Let it Whip (Dazz Band)
Amanda: the computer at work has problems with YouTube videos, and they have silence breaks in them, but from what I could tell the first one was pretty good, and the second one (is that the Dixie Chicks?) seems OK, but it was really broken up.
I’ll listen when I get home. But if you can put up a couple of country songs, you can’t be all bad.
Rob, I think that was my cat!
Seriously?
My own cat has been known to make noises when she sees birds outside, although it’s more of a stuttering and low-pitched sort of meow than the chirping in that video, which I had never heard before I saw that.
1. Calliope - Tom Waits
2. By Your Side - Beachwood Sparks
3. Equally Damaged - Blonde Redhead
4. Brian the Vampire - Xiu Xiu
5. The Burial Song (Outro) - Busta Rhymes
6. Delta Momma Blues - Townes Van Zandt
7. Big Long Now - Nirvana
8. Wander I Go - Patti Smith
9. American Flag - Cat Power
10. Fourteen Rivers, Fourteen Floods - Beck
And the bonus: Kick Out the Jams - MC5
I love the billboard in the background, kicking at the tree!
Rob, I had one like yours too. “Mrr - rr-rp,” he went.
“Rob, I had one like yours too. “Mrr - rr-rp,” he went.”
I think it’s in the Cat ROM…
(sorry, I’m a computer guy so I see everything as a machine - even animals and people).
Every cat I’ve had, been around, known, will do the same thing…
That picture is too, too funny.

IIRC, the theory is that cats make that “chattering” noise to try and sound like a bird so they can lure birds closer. If you watch your cat watching birds, you can also sometimes see them chattering their teeth for the same purpose.
Our cats are not allowed to go outside (apartment on a busy street) but they wouldn’t even if we lived someplace quieter because Keaton would absolutely decimate the bird population. His favorite game is to jump really high and pull a ball out of the air. Seriously, he gets a good 3-4 feet in the air when he’s on a roll.
Oasis- Don’t Look Back in Anger - Live Manchester “Citeh” Stadium
Our younger daughter’s cat (yes, she’s supposedly a family cat, but she’s so thoroughly attached to our daughter that she’s really our daughter’s cat) makes all sorts of weird squeaks and chirps and other noises; when she purrs, it sounds like she’s doing it underwater — which might explain why if you’re petting her, your hand gets wet.
when she purrs, it sounds like she’s doing it underwater — which might explain why if you’re petting her, your hand gets wet.
She’s probably drooling — I had a (female) cat who used to do that. She would lay on my chest and purr and drool while I petted her.
Then she’d feel the drool on her chin and shake her head to get it off, splattering me with kitty saliva, which kinda ruined the whole adorableness of it all.
