Now Contrada continues her public rampage, assailing the Boston Globe for doing a story on how young people are coming out at earlier ages, and that gay-straight alliance groups help them navigate the process of leaving the closet behind.

This is what we've been saying for years. An unbelievable celebration of homosexual recruitment in the public schools. This demonstrates the obsession the homosexual movement has for children.
…Schools also persuade parents to buy the insane party line to "accept" child's destructive behavior as "normal and healthy." Don't seem concerned about physical, psychological dangers of homosexuality or anal sex for a 15-year-old. Is this where the abortion-is-fine mentality has brought us?
Activist teachers constantly counsel kids without parents' knowledge. Their stealth approach to trusting adolescents is a deadly way to lead them to the homosexual lifestyle.
BAGLY is a radical extremist homosexual group which targets the most vulnerable children. It has led kids to counseling on body mutilation in order to "become" the opposite sex. It really pisses me off that these kind of people can call those who legitimately want to HELP teenagers feel un-isolated and accepted “evil.” Telling already-vulnerable teenagers that their feelings are unnatural and that everybody who is trying to help them is twisted and sinful is just WRONG.

She’s a horrible, horrible person, and my only consolation is that here in Massachusetts, almost everyone thinks she’s a crank.
In other parts of the country, people like her are appointed to the state’s Board of Education.
A couple of months ago, my wife and I were taking our three daughters to the New England Aquarium in Boston. We were cutting through City Hall Plaza where MassReasistance and Gay and Lesbian group(not sure which one) both had small groups of representatives getting the word out, handing out fliers etc.
My oldest daughter who is seven was skipping a few yards ahead of us. Skipping along she passed a woman wearing a GLBT t-shirt, who asked my daughter if she would like a pink ballon. My daughter turned and looked at her mom and dad to see if it was ok. We said “sure” of course, and the woman said, ” what polite & lovely little girl you are”.
Within in steps, we passed by the MassResistance group. Seeing my daughter’s balloon and the exchange that just occured, one of the members said in a booming voice, ” If you cared about those children, you should see what they are really teaching them”.
Caught between wanting to tell this guy to go fuck himself and not wanting to frighten my daughters, my wife, with her level head, gripped my arm and said,” Look at it this way, to a seven year old, who were the nice people?”.
Small,yeah, but I hope it sticks.

apparently claudia had told her friend that if she was caught using drugs again that that would happen, but i think it’s QUITE A COINCIDENCE that Amy would pull her kid out of school for that RIGHT WHEN SHE CAME OUT AS GAY.

(ps from the implications, it seems that the drugs were pot, not something like cocaine, but that’s just a speculation on my part)

BTW, the DSS is quite aware of Mrs. Contrada’s bizarre behavior, the treatment of her daughter and the ways this might put her at risk (stalker risk from advertisement of personal details on the web, suicide risk elevation in special needs student who is socially isolated and self-identifies as gay). I was not the first or the last to call this one in!
As a former republican governor (Weld) made gay teen suicide a priority nearly two decades ago, they are investigating. I can’t wait to see the public flailings that is going to bring (except they would only lead to further problems …).

This kind of thing drives me nuts. When a girl starts being interested in boys, we don’t start yelling about the “physical and psychological dangers of vaginal sex for a 15-year old.” Even though they’re pretty similar to those of anal sex for a 15 year old. Why? Because we don’t automatically assume that just because she’s interested in boys, she must be fucking boys. She might be, but that’s not the default assumption. But when a boy starts being interested in other boys, the default assumption is that he’s having anal sex. Why? Homosexuality is about way, way more than anal sex. I don’t know it’s so difficult for some people to realise that.

I think part of it is the “women are the brakes” mindset. If you think guys will fucking anyone/anything that holds still for them–and that teenage boys are the ultimate example of this behavior–then you’re probably going to assume that every date a gay teenage boy goes on is going to be the full production of “Sodom & Gomorrah!: The Musical.”
I say ‘yay, anal sex’. If everyone’s willing and safe, I can’t see what’s wrong with encouraging people of all post pubescent ages (capable of making informed consent [insert sensible sane consensual language here]) to experiment to their hearts’ desire. Bring on the safe exploration! Some kids, gay or straight or bi or trans, only want to hold hands, cuddle and kiss. Some kids want to screw their brains out. We all mature at different rates, and as long as you have someone of a compatible level of sexual interest, I can’t see the problem in encouraging healthy sexuality.
So, Amy, yes. If a fifteen year old came to me as a trusted adviser and said ‘my boyfriend and I want to have TEH GAY SEX’, I would advise on safety and hygiene very frankly, and send them on their way with some condoms and lube to figure out the rest together. Because you know what? Figuring it all out is beautiful, messy, awkward, sweet, and exciting part of life.
And the thing about all these disease-danger-pregnancy arguments against anal or PIV sex is that, if the physical riskiness of sex practices is your only basis for behavioral/identity recommendations, then you should want all the girls to be lesbians.
That poor kid—her mom just keeps escalating the badness. I hope she’s able to go away to college next year, and not to a Bob Jones U. sort of place.
Contrada is so on crack. Mm-hmm, kids in high school don’t know who they are. They may like the opposite sex (and fantasize about them, and date them, and get all mopey and moony with teenage crushes on them). But gosh, if they hear about this fabulous gay option from the gay club at school, they’re totally gonna switch teams. Because teens are so malleable that way, and sexual preference is such a minor consideration. (Yeah, right.)
Of course, there’s a chance that Contrada’s daughter isn’t a lesbian at all. If you had that parent and you were a teen looking to separate your identity from that of your parents, boy, would that be an effective way to give a big eff-you to Mom. If she really is gay or otherwise queer, I wish her all the strength and support she will need to soldier on into adulthood without her mother’s support, ‘cause it doesn’t look llike Mom’s coming around on the issue any time soon.
This gonna end up on the front page of the Herald, I bet. Or at least in Howie or Fitzgerald’s nasty little rants.

Also, because no lesbian in the history of ever has acted like she should be attracted to men or tried to convince herself that she was. Certainly not. Hell, I’m straight and I put up magazine clippings of male celebrities I wasn’t even attracted to, just because I thought that’s what I was supposed to do when I was a young teen. You’re supposed to think Celebrity X is hot and you better pretend to, even if you don’t.
I also want to know, if gay-friendly schools are such a hotbed of recruitment, how come I haven’t become gay yet. I was quiet and shy in high school; I participated in drama, which was the first place I found people who actually liked me. I was involved with my high school’s gay-straight alliance, and had a lot of queer friends. And yet somehow I never felt pressured to claim a sexual orientation or gender identity that wasn’t mine. Could it be that that’s NOT HOW IT WORKS?

There is so much here to comment on, I can even begin to talk about it all. Right-wing nut jobs are amazing (-ly horrifying). Anyway, the main thing I want to comment on is how horrible Amy Contrada’s and Mass Resistance’s comments about Claudia are. They make her sound like she is completely incompetent and unable to think for herself. As someone who had mental/psychological issues in high school (depression and anxiety disorders) I can tell you that I was no less able to think for myself than any other kid. Yes, kids (with issues and without) can be easily manipulated, but it sounds to me that the girl was just exploring lifestyle choices among a supportive group of peers and adult allies, as well as questioning the values she grew up with, which is quite normal for a teen. The only people I see exploiting her are Ms. Contrada and Mass Resistance. Using your child’s struggles to further your hatred is much more exploitative than anything the LBGT activists have (supposedly) done. Worst of all, Ms. Contrada completely invalidates her daughter and basically treats her (according the characterization of the article) like she is incompetent and stupid because of her issues. Shame on Amy Contrada. She is so worried about what “teh gayz” are doing that she doesn’t see what she is doing to her own child. That girl is going to need so much therapy it is not even funny. I’m glad DSS is looking into it, because no child should have to live with parents who treat them like that. I’m sorry if this post isn’t the most coherent comment, but this really upsets me.
