Halsey, an incredibly disorganized lovable goofball, just can’t seem to hold down a proper job or, when he’s tried, to run a proper company. …. He should be making great money but can’t get out of his way…

If you take out the "lovable" part, that sounds exactly like Shrub.

HA! Rumblelizard = product of Catholic grade school, high school, and *drumroll* Jesuit college. Lapsed now, but apparently still visible from a mile away. :)

You're welcome, Mike Ess. I know how much I love and appreciate my own dad even though I don't agree with him on everything.

I've been thinking about this, and my problem with attitudes like "This is WAR, so your dad should die!" and the sliming of Graeme Frost and suchlike behavior is what it ultimately means for our country, for all of us. If it actually gets to the point of war, where we're actually killing each other based on political ideology (and believe me, I've heard that being discussed on both sides of the fence) it's going to be necessary to kill our neighbors, our family members, the person you smile at and buy coffee from in the morning. It just seems extremely dangerous and horrendous and self-defeating to me to go down that path.

Back on topic, on something I missed . One of Ezra Klein's posters noted that Malkin's self-ballyhooed MSA is also a tax break subsidized by other taxpayers who don't have one Needless to say, she doesn't seem to have a problem with that. Not only does she not have a problem with that, she ignores it and demands to know "Question for grown-ups: Who deserves government-subsidized health insurance?"(!) She does, it seems, and the Frosts don't, nor do you.

Of course, the question of "deserve" is a red herring. If this argument turned on, say, a lost tax cut for the Frosts instead of a government service the rightsphere would be lauding their virtues to the skies. The real question is "why aren't all Americans entitled to health insurance just as they're entitled to police and fire services? Why can the rest of the first world provide this and we won't?"

Oh, and she gets bonus points. In that same post she angrily asserts, "[c]ontrary to the liars in the left-wing blogosphere, you will not find one negative, ad hominem word about the Frost children written by me.." in the same post where she excerpts an anonymous denunciation by a "neighbor" of the Frosts who describes them as
pathetically leftist buffoons, but still good people.. Halsey, an incredibly disorganized lovable goofball, just can’t seem to hold down a proper job or, when he’s tried, to run a proper company. .... He should be making great money but can’t get out of his way…
It's really wacky-impressive, if you think about it.

Rumblelizard, kindly do not apologize for something that you haven't done, or even something that you may have done but your accuser doesn't have the stones to specify, let alone back up. Please. You wanna feel bad based on baseless allegations from bad people, become Catholic and do it properly.

I'd also like to state that while I am far from perfect, I do my dead-level best not to say things that could be construed as homophobic or misogynistic, because those two states of mind are antithetical to my beliefs and convictions. However, being imperfect, it is possible and even likely that I have made a statement somewhere, at some time, that could have been construed as such. If I did, it was not meant in that way, and I'd be glad to apologize to anyone whose feelings were hurt by my words and explain my actual intent.

And that is all the countenance I will give any suggestion that I am either a homophobe or a misogynist.

Rumblelizard, I think that you were right to step in and call on the dead father crudity.

Ironically enough, I just posted on something else on Yglesias' blog, using Russian and English peasants and proles as a metaphor for the GOP and Dem bases (respectively). I promptly received a sneering riposte starting off insulting my knowledge of "pre-reolutionary" Russia and demanding details of what I meant. Fine, I suppose; there's always going to be some fussy tool demanding that even a metaphor be footnoted and defended as if it were a Ph.D thesis.

But the ironic-funny bit comes here: that poster signed in as "Malkin". Fanboy? Or the real thing desperately focusing on something to avoid the fact that she doesn't have the guts to take on Ezra in a debate? There's something about a lot of conservatives which reminds one of the insult, "his artillery is impressive, but not at all mobile".
